Daily horse racing tips

  • FFOS LAS
    2.55: Twyford's Diamond 16/1 Each-way (0.5pt)
  • SOUTHWELL
5.12: Ernest Gray & Taste The Fear Combination Exacta (1pt)
    7.42: Fierce Warrior 4/1 (1.5pts)
  • HEREFORD
    6.30: Dirty Den 9/4 (0.5pt)

Twyford's Diamond

Can certainly see why there's a big price attached to this mare who's having to carry top weight in a weak Class 5 handicap.

But she's making her handicap debut in this field where she's got to carry 19lb more than Jasmin De Grugy who's the odds-on favourite.

While she may stand a chance of winning she's most likely got a chance in behind at such a big price despite having to give weight away all round.

She's ran fairly well in defeat in her five hurdle starts, placing just behind Easy Peasy who has a mark of 113 now.

She's stepped back from Class 3's to a Class 5 for a trainer and jockey who've been in great form this year and can't be ruled out as an each-way play for place profit at the least.

Ernest Gray & Taste The Fear

Over to Southwell for the evening fixture which sees good ground that could benefit Ernest Gray, trained by Alan King.

He's gone quite well over fences and makes his fifth chase start today with a win and a close second to bolster his chances going forward.

The seven-year-old has progression on the cards for sure and did well ahead of Tom Creen here in January but been beaten on each occasion on soft ground.

Taste The Fear has a lot of experience under rules as a nine-year-old with this being his 30th start.

He's won six in that time, picking up wins on the flat, over hurdles and chasing.

Despite the win last time out when making the most of a handy mark, he's still 6lb lower than when coming a close second to houston Texas in March 2023.

He's had a wind op since and struggled on four subsequent starts, but has potential back over course and distance too, with claimer Luke Scott aboard.

Fierce Warrior

Makes his handicap debut off a fairly low mark considering his win at Plumpton suggested he was probably better than 110.

He was never quite with it at Plumpton last time out but was carrying 7lb more than Jetronic who is now running off 125 over hurdles and 133 over fences.

The second in that race is also right up there in the ratings so he was clearly never going to stand much of a chance but he's got plenty of potential here as a result, especially as he wasn't exactly at his best last time out either.

Dirty Den

Only been seen over hurdles once and that was in the Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree for the Grand National Festival.

Prior to that he featured in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham Festival, both times he's been 150/1 SP and it's an odd route to take and it's very tough to really judge how he will fare here today on that basis as those are both incredibly tough tests.

He's given 6lb by Stay If U Want To who has gone well in second on his first two hurdle starts, but could well bump into another smart one at a decent priced punt.

There's certainly ability in this horse who placed a close second in listed company in a bumper at Cheltenham in January and can potentially make a big bid here.
